A PE firm considering investing in a packaging company with three distinct divisions wanted to better understand each division’s market, as well as what synergy existed between all of them.
Market ResearchTo find the answers, we began by interviewing Senior and Sales Management at each division, discussed their challenges, position, plans for growth, etc. We also surveyed their present largest customers, focusing on each customer’s knowledge of and need for the services of the other divisions. We amalgamated and analyzed the market feedback to highlight areas of synergy and concern from the customers.
ResultsThe Mayfield Consulting Investigation revealed the three divisions were disparate with few synergies. Thanks to our market feedback and other input, the PE firm decided that they were only interested in purchasing two of the three divisions and renegotiated the deal. The divisions then used Mayfield Consulting’s market feedback to refine their sales operations.
